Can an agency get local competitor data for client shops through an API?

Yes, for the shops you add to your account. AlleyPulse has a read only REST API and a remote MCP server that return each shop's weekly issue: what changed within its radius, competitor posts and promos, rating moves, new and closed listings, events and weather, with a source link on every item. It is $29 per month per shop, API and MCP included.

How would an agency use it?

  1. 01

    Add each client shop

One account, many shops. Each has its own address, radius (0.5, 1 or 2 km), recipients and settings.

    About 2 minutes each
  2. 02

    Create a read only key

Scope it to all shops or to one client's shop. Revoke it in the app at any time.

    1 minute
  3. 03

    Pull each Monday's issue

Fetch the latest issue per shop, or subscribe to the issue.published webhook and fetch when it fires. Filter to tier A for what needs action this week.

    Weekly
  4. 04

Use it in your client report, or ask an assistant

Items arrive as JSON with a headline, what changed, why it matters, what to do and a source. An assistant with the MCP server connected can summarize them on request.

    Any time
curl
# Example only. The key is a placeholder: use your own.
curl https://api.alleypulse.com/v1/shops \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer ap_live_EXAMPLE"

curl "https://api.alleypulse.com/v1/shops/shp_EXAMPLE01/issues/latest?tier=A" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer ap_live_EXAMPLE"

What is the scope and what are the limits?

  • Per shop, weekly: the data is the same issue the shop owner gets by email. It is not a live feed.
  • Your shops only: items are returned for the shops on the key's account. It is not a bulk export of local business data, and Google derived data is not exposed publicly.
  • Anonymized: nearby businesses are described by kind and distance, and no review text is stored or returned.
  • Google Maps coverage: addresses wherever Google Maps has business listings, except Russia and Belarus. Sparse areas get thinner issues.
  • 60 requests per minute per key, read only, OpenAPI 3.1 file included.

Questions from agencies and developers

Is there an API for local competitor data that an agency can use for small business clients?

Yes. AlleyPulse has a read only REST API (v1) and a remote MCP server. Each client shop is a shop on your account with its own address and radius, and the API returns that shop's weekly issues and items as JSON: competitor posts and promos, rating and review count changes, new and closed listings, local events, news, search interest and weather.

How can an agency automate local competitor reports for many small business clients?

Add each client shop to one account, create a read only API key (one for all shops or one per client), subscribe to the issue.published webhook, and fetch each new issue when it is announced. The issue is the same one the client would get by email, with tiers, actions and source links.

How much does it cost for an agency with several clients?

$29 USD per month per shop, billed monthly, cancel anytime. Each shop is its own subscription under the same account, so ten client shops are $290 per month. API and MCP access are included, and the first issue of every shop is free.

Do I need a separate account for every client?

No. One account can hold many shops with no new registration, and API keys can be scoped to one shop or all shops. Each shop has its own recipients and settings.

Can I get raw local business data for any address?

No. Items are returned only for shops on the key's account. AlleyPulse is not a bulk export of Google Maps data, and Google derived data is not exposed publicly. The coverage check endpoint only says whether an address is supported.

Can the API return competitor names or review text?

No. Nearby businesses are anonymized, such as a café 200 m away, and there is no field for review text. Each item has a dated source link.

Is there a webhook for new issues?

Yes. The issue.published event is sent when the weekly issue for one of your shops is ready. The payload holds only ids, each delivery is signed, and failed deliveries are retried up to 5 times over a day. It is a weekly event, not a stream of live changes.

What are the rate limits?

60 requests per minute per key, with rate limit headers on every response. Lists use cursor pagination.

Is there an OpenAPI file?

Yes. An OpenAPI 3.1 file is at https://api.alleypulse.com/v1/openapi.json, and the developer documentation lists the endpoints, fields and error codes.
