A weekly competitor and neighborhood report for cafés

Yes, there is one: AlleyPulse is a weekly neighborhood intelligence email for café and coffee shop owners. Every Monday it lists what changed within 1 km of your café, such as a rival's promo, a new coffee listing on Google Maps, a street market or the weather, with why it matters and what to do this week.

What does it do for a café?

A café lives on routines: the morning commute, the weekend market, the rainy afternoon. AlleyPulse watches the things around your door that change those routines and puts the few that need action first. It costs $29 per month per shop, the first issue is free, and you can cancel anytime.

What will I see each Monday?

  • Competitor promos: public posts and promos from cafés and bakeries near you, such as a two for one before 9am, so you hear about them before your regulars do.
  • New coffee listings: a coffee kiosk or café that appears on Google Maps near you for the first time. We call it new on Google Maps, never an opening.
  • Rating and review count moves: a nearby café that picks up a burst of reviews, with the themes summarized (for example waiting times). We never quote reviews.
  • Events and closures: street markets, festivals and road closures that change footfall or block your delivery. Public events calendars and local news only.
  • Weather and search interest: the week's forecast and the regional trend for coffee related searches, as relative trends, not counts.

What does an item look like?

Fictional examples of what an issue contains for a café. Every real item also carries a dated source link.

Competitor promo · 200 m EXAMPLE DATA

A café 200 m away is offering two for one flat whites before 9am

What changed
New post on its Google Maps listing, valid weekdays until Friday.
Why it matters
It targets the commuters who make up your 7 to 9am peak.
What to do this week
Do not match the price. Put your loyalty card or a coffee and pastry pairing in the window, then compare 7 to 9am sales with last week.

New on Google Maps · 400 m EXAMPLE DATA

A coffee kiosk is new on Google Maps near you

What changed
The listing appeared since last week's snapshot. No hours, photos or reviews yet.
Why it matters
A new listing is not a confirmed opening. If it starts trading, it competes for takeaway coffee.
What to do this week
Nothing yet. We will tell you if hours, photos or reviews appear.

What does it not do?

  • It is not a menu or price tracker: it reports promos competitors post publicly, not their price lists.
  • It is weekly, not instant, and information can be hours to days old.
  • It only sees businesses listed on Google Maps.

Questions café owners ask

Is there a tool that tells me when a new coffee shop opens near my café?

AlleyPulse tells you when a business appears on Google Maps near your café for the first time, and when a listing is marked closed. That is not the same as a confirmed opening, so these items say new on Google Maps near you and never state an opening date. New and closed items start in issue 2.

Can AlleyPulse tell me what other cafés near me are promoting?

Yes. It reports public posts and promos from similar businesses within your radius, such as a morning offer posted on a Google Maps listing, with a dated source link. Nearby businesses are described in anonymized form, for example a café 200 m away.

Does it show my competitors' coffee prices or menus?

No. AlleyPulse is not a menu or price tracker. It reports promos and posts that nearby businesses publish, rating and review count changes, new and closed listings, local events and news, search interest trends and the weather.

How is it different from checking Google Maps myself?

It compares this week's snapshot of every nearby listing with last week's, so you see what changed instead of remembering what was there. It also adds events, news, weather and search interest, and each item says what to do this week.

Which radius should a café choose?

1 km suits most town and city cafés. Choose 0.5 km for a very dense street, or 2 km if few businesses are listed near you. You can change the radius later in settings.

How much does AlleyPulse cost for a café?

$29 USD per month for each shop, billed monthly, and you can cancel anytime. The first issue of every shop is free, and a free sample report is available for any supported address. There is no setup fee and no contract.

How do I start with AlleyPulse for my café?

Enter your café's address on the home page, choose a radius of 0.5, 1 or 2 km and ask for the free sample. The first weekly issue is a baseline of what is around you today, and changes appear from issue 2.

Can I use AlleyPulse for more than one café?

Yes. One account can hold many shops, each with its own address, radius and recipients. Each shop is its own $29 per month subscription, so two shops are $58 per month.
